Horse Riding 1

Learn how to ride a horse in a safe and confident manner. This course is an informative overview of horses and riding. It will allow students an introduction on how it feels to sit in the saddle, how to achieve the correct position and maintain it while the horse walks and trots. At the end of the course students will also understand how a horse thinks, how to interpret his body language, what gear to use when riding whether it is correctly fitted & the correct terminology.

Materials

  • Please wear closed toe shoes with flat heels and preferably no laces, jodhpurs, jeans or track pants and sun block.
  • Horse, helmet and all tackle is supplied.

Participants must arrive 30 minutes early to be fitted with helmet, boots & complete necessary paperwork.

  • gained proficiency in basic horse handling skills
  • gained skills to confidently ride a horse at walking pace

PLEASE NOTE: Horse riding is a dangerous activity as horses can act in sudden and unpredictable (changeable) ways, especially if frightened or hurt. Because of this all participants agree to ride at their own risk and will be required to fill out a Moore Park Stables liability waiver at the start of each course. Participants under 18 cannot be accommodated in these courses.
