Creative Writing


This class will deal primarily with writing short stories or short pieces of prose, however, other forms of fiction, including novel and genre writing will be discussed. Run as a workshop with readings, writing exercises, homework and discussions, you are encouraged to bring your own work for class discussion.

Suitable for both beginners and more experienced writers, the course will reflect the needs and wishes of the class, but topics covered will include: how to get started, what is a short story, character sketch, other kinds of fiction, characterisation, plot, theme, structure, description, dialogue, point of view, editing and manuscript preparation.
