Acting: Improvisation

Join Nicolas at City East Community College in this playful one-day course that explores improvisation and character building and concludes in a self-devised performance at the end of the day.

In a safe and nurturing environment, pick up some great tips and tricks as you learn how to improvise and be spontaneous enabling you create and perform interesting characters with confidence. All of the segments of the course will intersect, and Nicolas will use elements of the improvisation and character work to feed into the mini-play that the class will put together towards the end of the day.

This is an excellent starting point for people wishing to dip their toe into the water of acting and performance.

Your tutor Nicholas Flanagan graduated from the Acting Course at NIDA in 1982 and has extensive acting credits as well as having lectured in writing and acting for NIDA, VCA and WAAPA. He is also a writer, director, producer, composer and teacher and recipient of a Creative fellowship (writing) from the Western Australian Government, the highest and most prestigious arts award in that state.

He has assisted many media executives, television personalities and CEO’s to better craft and deploy their stories and presentation in Australia and around the world. His unique blend of artistic and business experience enables him and his associates to fast track results and help people tell influential stories that achieve results.

Active in the arts as well as running Nicholas Flanagan Consulting, Nicholas has written drama for television, his plays have been published and produced around Australia, and his Communication Excellence Seminars are run nationally and internationally for top tier Australian businesses (including Macquarie Capital and Boston Consulting Group),

Also, a composer, songwriter and librettist Nicholas’s musical, The Chaos Fairy and the Wizard was recently produced for the Monkey Baa Theatre at the Lend Lease Theatre in Darling Harbour.
