Australian Spoken English and Slang

This course will help people from a non-English speaking background to interact more comfortably when speaking or listening to Australian people in a range of social and work contexts. This is a general English course designed for students who wish to improve their English language proficiency for study, work or travel. The flexible nature of the Certificate enables students to focus on general English skills development or to focus on particular areas such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, depending on the needs of the individual student. This Intermediate to Advanced level course covers both written and spoke English relevant to Australian life. The course consists of two sessions each week (2.5 hours each session) for an 8 week period. All students need to attend the first class where their spoken and written skills will be assessed. With satisfactory progress students can achieve a Statement of Attainment relevant to specific modules from the Certificate I,II or III in Spoken and Written English. There is also provision for continuing with the program in subsequent terms enabling students to make further progress towards the achievement of the full certificate. Students who have already received stage III Certificate cannot enrol in this program. All other students may pre-enrol for these classes by sending an enrolment form, accompanied by payment of course fees, or enrol in person immediately prior to the commencement of their course.
