Make a 50's Swing Dress
This course celebrates the beauty of the 50’s party frock with its swing-skirt and kicky weekend feel. Using a tried and tested easy pattern developed by the tutor create your dream ‘Mad Men’ dress and come away with your perfectly fitted 50’s pattern to take home and use over and over again.
Please note: basic sewing machine skills, including how to insert a zipper, are required. If have not inserted a zipper before we suggest you book into one of our one day Sewing Machine Skills courses before your final session.
Materials
Please bring the following to the first lesson:
Fabric: No sheer or slipper fabrics. Plain or non-match dependent prints only. Bring 3m of fabric at 150cm width or 3.5 m of fabric if it is 115 cm width. Judith recommends stretch cotton sateen: 95% cotton 5% spandex. The slight stretch is good in this pattern, but it is not suitable for full stretch. The pattern also suits stiffer, heavier cotton fabrics rather than thin flimsy ones.
