Bias Cut Dresses

Create a soft fitting dress suitable for all occasions in this course that divulges the trade secrets of how to cut and sew on the bias of the fabics. The simple slip dress is knee length with thin straps and has no zip. It fits with the ‘give’ of the bias to great effect. Prerequisite: Sewing Machine Skills or equivalent.
Materials needed
- Fabric – 3 meters on 115cm or 2 meters on 150cm
- Sewing thread to match.
- Fabric scissors
- tape measure
- pins
- and bobbin to go into a “Bernina”
machine if you do not have your own machine.
The pattern designed by Alex will fit a size 8 to 16. If you think you might fall out of those sizes please bring in a very basic shape commerical pattern that is suitable for bias cutting (no zippers or sleeves).
